Spring Semester Deadlines

Please note we are rolling admissions, which means we do not have an Early Action or Early Decision deadline. However, we do review applications as soon as they are complete, so the sooner you apply the sooner you will hear your admissions decision.

For our competitive programs we strongly suggest you apply by the Priority Deadline, however we will continue to accept applications for these programs as long as there is space available.

Back to top What is recalculated GPA?

If your GPA is below 3.0 we use the sliding scale to determine admissibility.

When reviewing a high school transcript, we re-calculate a student’s GPA based on their college prep, honors or AP level courses only. We do not include courses that are based on performance such as physical education, health, music, etc.

When re-calculating a GPA we also give “extra credit” for higher-level courses. For example if you received a “B” in an honors course, we would consider this a “B+”. If you received a “B” in an AP or IB course, we would consider it an “A”.

I'm concerned that I do not meet the requirements. Should I still apply?

If you have a minimum recalculated GPA of a 2.00 or higher, you’re considered for admission.

If you haven't quite met our minimum standards for admission, we may consider you for one of our special admissions programs:

If you do not have a 2.00 or higher, we cannot accept you as a first year student. However, you can enroll in another college first and then apply as a transfer student once you have earned some college-level credits.

Recruitment Policy Regarding Military Service Members

No staff member in the Fitchburg State University Office of Admissions involved in the recruitment of military service members will receive any additional compensation or commission for the enrollment of any such applicant.

In addition, any attempts to make unsolicited contact with a military service member will not exceed three attempts to contact by either phone or electronically. All electronic communication (email) will include a link to allow the recipient to opt-out of future communication. If contact is made with a service member that notifies the Fitchburg State Office of Admissions via phone, email, or other communication that they do not wish to be contacted, that person’s record will be updated to reflect they have opted out of future communication. Based upon this action, all communication will cease immediately with the service member. This will remain in effect until such a time that the party otherwise indicates they wish to communicate with Fitchburg State University for the purpose of enrollment.
